This Action Drivers playset is currently the last one to be released. I stated that it is unusual simply because having a volcano as part of a ‘city theme playset-as almost all the rest of the sets are, might make one think…what were they thinking. Granted I cannot answer that. However, since I do have all the sets-let me give you my thoughts in case that helps.First: SIZE: This set is almost as large as the airport (which is huge).Construction: Hard plastic -as are the other sets. This one also comes with lights and sound. This is one set where you have to pay close attention to the instructions.Compatibility: Yes, to both the Action drivers set and also to hot wheels. It does have a working elevator and you can drive your matchbox or hot-wheel vehicle over, under, around, and through the volcano.Lights and Sound: Like many of the other sets, this one has lights and sound. Since I also consider it a game that kids can play, the lights and sounds also increase the fun of the game. There is a lever on the front of the set. Each time it is depressed- the volcano lights up and the sound or words being announced leads the player to believe that the volcano is about to erupt. The game aspect is that the player doesn’t know how many times it will take before the volcano erupts -tossing plastic lava balls up from the inside of the volcano. It appears that the actual eruption is radon. The inside is spring activated-so the player has to reset the spring and add the lava balls before one starts the game again.Oh!, you don’t have to add the lava balls -that is an option.PRO: ALL these sets are well made and should be long-lasting. Well worth the cost! Currently, it is my understanding that this playset has the highest price point of all the sets. Please note that the space required to collect all the sets and attach them is about the size of a sheet of plywood.Con: Perhaps I’m biased, But I would and have recommended these sets to anyone. My grandson loves them and I enjoy rebuilding the town each time Mattel comes out with a new addition. So, the only con is that Mattel has not announced any new sets yet for 2023. If they do-then I am so sold on these sets- I will be adding to our matchbox town.
