I bought this toy as a gift; it has great reviews. I noticed (only) one reviewer said a battery compartment cover came loose, and little button batteries came out. I could not find info in the product description, or on the box, about what sort of batteries are used and how. Here it is: The batteries are needed for the lights and music. To make the toy “run,” just push down on its nose, and it scoots away–no batteries needed. The Amazon packing box had big labels that the toy contains Lithium Metal Batteries. Each toy has 3 button lithium batteries, held in place with a cover and a tiny screw, about 1/4″ long. It seems fairly secure. But, I worry about batteries a lot with small children, and anyway, it is illegal to pack them in luggage and check it on a flight. So, I have removed all the batteries and screwed the covers back on. The toys will work well and be a lot of fun, just no lights and music (which a number of purchasers complained about to some extent). If my niece wants the batteries, she can have them and put them back in. If not, it’s still a fun toy.
